Art Production and Publication Fund- funding the artists and books
The Art Gym supports artists before, during, and after exhibition thanks to the Art Production and Publication Fund. The APPF fosters the production of new artworks by paying for artist materials, compensating artists for their exhibition labor including speaking engagements, and financing exhibition catalogs. We pay at each step of the process so artists can make ambitious work and receive fair wages.
The APPF is funded by our generous supporters.
Working Artists and the Greater Economy
Founded in 2008, Working Artists and the Greater Economy (W.A.G.E.) is a New York-based activist organization focused on regulating the payment of artist fees by nonprofit art institutions and establishing a sustainable labor relation between artists and the institutions that contract their work.
The Art Gym has been W.A.G.E. certified since Fall 2016. Voluntarily seeking W.A.G.E. certification demonstrates our commitment to compensating artistic labor. Paying artists acknowledges the work required to create, install, exhibit, speak about, and archive artwork. This financial support drives our holistic mission furthering artists’ creative and professional development.
